Group Works Sales Summary Data — 2019 update
Of a sample of 522 shipments several years ago (~2015):
- 406 (78%) were one deck -- 278 (53% of all shipments) to US, 69 (13%) to Canada, 59 (12%) international (mostly Europe/UK)
- 55 (10%) were two decks -- 32 (6% of all shipments) to US, 13 (2%) to Canada, 10 (2%) international
- 13 (2%) were 3-9 decks -- 8 (1%) to US, 2 to Canada, 3 (1%) international
- 47 (10%) were 10+ decks -- 27 (6% of all shipments) to US, 14 (3%) to Canada, 6 (1%) international
- 522 total shipments of a total of 1130 decks -- 2.16 decks/shipment on average
The 2015 map showed % of decks sold to be: US 65%, Canada 22%, UK 4%, Europe 4%, Rest of world 3%.
I just created (June 2019) a table of the latest (2017-2019) 278 shipments -- amazingly consistent with the above data:
- 215 (77%) were one deck -- 144 (52% of all shipments) to US, 38 (14%) to Canada, 19 (7%) to Europe, 7 (3%) to UK, 5 (1%) to Australia/NZ, 2 to rest of world
- 30 (11%) were two decks -- 13 (5% of all shipments) to US, 8 (3%) to Canada, 4 (1%) to Europe, 3 (1%) to Australia/NZ, 2 (1%) to UK
- 10 (4%) were 3-9 decks -- 5 (2%) to US, 3 (1%) to Canada, 2 (1%) to Europe
- 23 (7%) were 10+ decks -- 16 (5%) to US, 5 (2%) to Canada, 1 to Europe, 1 to Australia
- 278 total shipments -- 178 (64%) to US, 54 (20%) to Canada, 26 (9%) to Europe, 9 (3%) to UK, 8 (2%) to Australia/NZ, 2 to rest of world
- 278 total shipments of a total of 641 decks -- 2.31 decks/shipment on average
The only significant change in proportion since 2015 is an increase in sales to continental Europe (risen from about 5% to about 9% of all shipments).
Extrapolating, if we were to do a third print run of 2000 decks, we should expect to sell them in 870 shipments over about 4 years, of which:
- 560 will be shipments to the US (about 12 shipments/mo),
- 170 to Canada (about 3.5/mo)
- 80 to Europe (about 1.5/mo)
- 30 to the UK (about 0.5/mo)
- 20 to Australia/NZ, and
- 10 to the rest of the world.
Regardless of destination, about 75-80% of shipments will be single-deck shipments, though these will together constitute only about 1/3 of total decks sold.
